Quando la dimensione del mito diventa riferimento costante del pensiero dell'artista è possibile vedere attraverso le trasparenze della storia e della leggenda, risignificazioni molteplici, a volte velate di dolcezza a volte crude nella loro forza attualizzante. In ogni caso è la profondità di un pensiero e di un cuore intensamente ispirati che emerge e che rivolge messaggi. E' così che la visione della Baronessa di Carini, incatenata al Castello che ne segnò la morte, riaffiora nella sua surreale figura di donna simbolo di quante, ancora oggi subiscono la violenza e la crudeltà da parte di chi su di esse esercitano un potere. Ma insieme a questo, la vocazione mitopoetica che caratterizza la nostra isola è colta da Aldo Sessa in innumerevoli dipinti che comprendono l'estensione massima della storia dell'uomo, dall'età classica a quella contemporanea. Dalla Venere Ericina ai Castelli di Sicilia, tutto è sapientemente raffigurato con la destrezza di chi sa infondere all'immagine della memoria lo spirito poetico che la rende viva ed attuale: citazione esemplare di miti che ritornano quasi a garantire perennemente l'identità di un popolo.

Aldo Sessa, master of the Myth

When the dimension of the myth becomes the constant reference of the creative impulse of the artist, then it becomes possible to see, through the trasparency of history and legends, meaningful facetes sometimes veiled with sweetness sometimes severe in its effective force. In any case, it is the deph of throught and a heart strongly inspirated, that comes out handing out message. This way, the vision of the Baronessa of Carini, chained to the castle where she found her death, emerges as a surreal figure, that of a woman standing for all the other ones-who-still today undergo throught violence and cruelty by those who wild power on them. But all together, the vocation of treating myth poetically characterizes ou Island and we can see it, caught by Aldo Sessa in several of his paintings summarising the utmost extension of history of men, from the classical age to the modern times. From Venus of Erice to the Castle of Sicily everything is wisely represented with the skill of the artist who knows how transmit the poetic spirit to the image of memory thus making it always alive and present: excellent quotation of the myths recurring almost as to assure the identity of the perennially.
